Patient Travels from Florida to Towson for Osteoarthritis Treatment

Kathy walking her German Shepherd

How far would you go to ensure the best health care possible? For Florida resident, Kathy Brophy, there seems to be no limit. She currently travels 1,093 miles from her home in Pembroke Pines, Florida to UM St. Joseph Medical Center to receive treatment by Towson Orthopaedic Associates specialists. Kathy has been seeing Dr. Brodie and Dr. Dalury for 33 years of osteoarthritis treatment and says she wouldn’t go anywhere else for these frequent orthopedic surgeries.

“The care at St. Joe’s is superb. People don’t realize that the actual surgery is only one part of the experience. I’ve worked in medical centers and I know the very real dangers of infection and other complications. Dr. Brodie and Dr. Dalury care about their patients from the second they come through the door, until long after they return home. This is what a community hospital is all about. I have complete peace of mind when I’m in their care and will happily travel over 1,000 miles to see them.”
